It attempts to arm you with statistics that combat the tired accusation
levelled at United fans: "Where Were You When You Were Sh*t?".
True, 50,000 weren't watching us on wet Wednesday's against Wrexham in
1979 (they'd have a job with capacity in the thirty thousands) but there
were still very healthy attendances watching some of the worst football
imaginable. True, there are a few skeletons lurking in the St. James' cupboards.Usually fans of other clubs will idly
toss a random figure at you as proof positive that Newcastle used to
"average under 10,000" and that we're just a bunch of
glory-hunters. Eventually we hope to give an honest and factual appraisal
of United's attendances but until then here's a few immediate put-downs for
fans of other clubs who pluck figures out of the air. We could do with a
