You'd have to go some to beat the combination of results that saw us into the Champs league with the mackems and boro relegated in May 1997. Six results all went our way on that fateful day.
However, Saturday came close. Only Vieira's rugby conversion robbed us of a perfect weekend, although the Arca offside "goal" almost made up for that.
Two more results that may have slipped your attention: both our junior sides won 2-0 on wearside soil.
The wins kept them top of their leagues but better still both games saw mackem youngsters take early baths.
The under 17s played for 85 minutes against ten men while the under 19s saw two depart. One for a professional foul the other for arguing about the first!
And finally, just a quick note about Dermot Gallagher. Leeds will definitely
miss their lucky charm - it's 15 games and almost five years since he reffed a Leeds loss or sent off a Leeds player.
