Following Monday's 3-2 victory
over the mackems, Newcastle U21s lost by the odd goal in five at the
Heritage Park home of Bishop Auckland on Friday.
Retaining all but one of the starting line-up, the only change to
the side - Ben Parkinson - put United ahead on 12 minutes,
controlling Jamie Miley's crossfield pass before evading a defender
and finishing.
That lead proved to be short-lived however, with a left wing cross
by Pharrell Willis swept home by Ajay Matthews in the 20th minute to
make it 1-1.
Undaunted, the Magpies restored their advantage with 28 minutes
played; Boro 'keeper Shea Connor unable to prevent Kyle Crossley
from netting from a tight angle for a fourth goal in just three
games.
The Heritage Park goal frames were then tested in the following
minutes - Finch rattling the Toon crossbar from the edge of
the box on 31 minutes, before visiting defenders Ciaran Thompson both
struck the woodwork at the opposite end before half time.
Proceedings were halted after six minutes of the second half, match
referee Andrew Miller requiring treatment before being replaced by
fourth official Macauley Gibson after a delay.
The Teessiders regained parity in the 89th minute, when Jack Hannah
was allowed a free header from Aidan Bridge's centre from the right.
And in the second minute of eight added on, Boro decisively went ahead for the
first time - Willis cutting in from the left before unleashing an
unstoppable shot beyond Will Brown and into the Newcastle net via a
post.

has been another GW production.
