The Magpies had recent acquisition Alfie Harrison in their ranks for
the first time as they lost by the odd goal in three in PL2 at Whitley
Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds led in three minutes when 16 year-old Treymaurice Nyoni
took a Jayden Danns pass and beat Max Thompson - playing his first
U21 game of the season following a loan at Northampton Town.
Kaide Gordon doubled that lead with a 21st minute penalty after Danns was
fouled.
Ben Parkinson almost immediately halved the deficit with his fourth
goal of the season, but United were unable to find an equaliser,
visiting goalkeeper Oscar Kelly making some noteworthy stops and the
goalscorer denied by the woodwork.
Former Magpie midfielder Bobby Clark - son of Lee - was in the
visiting line-up.
