Following
draws at Huddersfield and Brighton in their last two outings,
Friday evening saw Newcastle U21s play out a third successive 1-1
draw.
Back at their adopted Whitley Park home for the first time since recent
pitch and floodlight improvements, United included Emil Krafth in
their starting line-up as an over-age player.
The Swedish defender made a low key but successful return to action
after 13 months on the sidelines since sustaining a serious knee
injury at Tranmere Rovers last season.
Completing 45 minutes as scheduled, Krafth took his leave with the
Magpies 1-0 up; Kyle Crossley in the right place to hammer home a
rebound after Remi Savage saw his header hit the Forest 'keeper.
The visitors drew level on the hour when Brandon Aguilera shot home
from the edge of the box.
United increased the pressure as the second half wore on but were
unable to restore their advantage, Dylan Stephenson and substitute
Ben Parkinson both close.
A minute into added time Stephenson cut in from the right but Jamie
Miley fired straight at the 'keeper and the loose ball was
eventually cleared.
