Saturday morning saw United's U21 side in home friendly action
against their Brentford counterparts.
The Magpies line-up included fit-again Matt Targett and the
full back shot his side ahead with a low curling effort on 12
minutes.
That lead was then doubled on 20 minutes when defender Remi
Savage headed a corner past Bees custodian Roco Rees.
Brentford got on the scoresheet when a loose ball was forced home by
Daniel Oyegoke midway through the second period, only for Newcastle
to regain their two goal lead through Ben Parkinson on 87
minutes.
And within 60 seconds, winger Rodrigo Vilca struck from distance to
wrap up the scoring with his first goal since returning from with
Universitaro in his native Peru.
PS: the visitors included the offspring of two well-known former
players; Max Dickov (son of Paul) and Romeo Beckham (you know who).
Brentford's B team don't belong to any organised league, playing
friendly and county cup matches instead. This was their fifth game in
just over a fortnight, following a trio of kickabouts in Portugal and a
Senior Cup tie.
