27 mins Fabian
Schar was dispossessed outside his own area by Lucas Moura and the
ball was routed across the box via Giovani Lo Celso Harry Kane to Son Heung-Min who fired it
past Martin Dubravka at his near post.
DeAndre
Yedlin was in the vicinity of the scorer but remained almost motionless -
minimising the risk of conceding a penalty I suppose...
0-1
Half time: Magpies 0 Cockerels 1
56 mins
Newly-arrived replacement Valentino Lazaro wandered into
the Spurs box and Aurier's poor clearance fell to Matt Ritchie who
took a touch before smashing the loose ball home into the Gallowgate net.
1-1
60 mins Kane lost his alleged marker, Emile Krafth to easily head in a deep right wing centre
from Stephen Bergwijn.
1-2
90 mins
A loose Saint-Maximin pass on the edge of the Spurs box initiated a speedy counter-attack
from Kane. He transferred the ball to Erik Lamela and galloped forward for
the return.
Lamela's run took him to the left hand side of Dubrvaka's six yard box and
although the goalkeeper parried his shot it dropped into the the path of Kane to head into
the net, being clattered
by Fernandez in the process.

Steve Bruce said:
"I couldn't have faulted them in their attitude, application and
the way we played.
"We gave it everything we could given the problems we've had. The
second-half at Watford wasn't acceptable but they've shown today
that they're trying their best to finish as high as we can.
"It’s the best we’ve played in a long time. They were excellent.
Realistically we were safe months ago so the challenge has been can
we finish as best as we can?
"Their attitude and application was excellent today and you
don’t always get what you deserve.
"We were naive after we equalised and we gave Harry Kane too
much room. You know it’s a goal and that’s the difference, that
quality at the top of the pitch.
"Fabian Schar looks like he has dislocated his shoulder and
Allan Saint-Maximin has a calf – we’ll have to see on him but we are
down to the bare bones. We were already missing seven.
"It’s about getting a few back for the start of next season
now.”
Jose Mourinho said:
"It's a very good result. I think it's an example of
resilience.
"This is the fourth match separated by two days, we've played against every
team when every team had more time to rest than us - an incredible effort by
everyone. The players are not tired now, the players were tired before the
game and to play with this intensity, with this spirit, I think is
phenomenal.
"Again, the team was a team, the two guys coming from the bench, they made a
difference and that's what a team needs.
"I am very happy for the team and finally I can leave
the stadium and pass Mr Robson's statue and laugh with him because
every time I come here, I leave the stadium and I look at him with a
sad face.
"It's the first time I can leave the stadium and smile."
United scored their 19th home PL goal of the season,
with just five of them in the first half - and only
one in our most recent eleven fixtures at SJP.
With only the visit of Champions Liverpool to SJP to come,
Bruce's side are on course to record their lowest PL home
goal total ever (21 in 2017/18).
Newcastle's 956th Premier League outing was also their 3,500th
top-flight league fixture, since a 2-4 home loss
to Wolves in September 1898.
Matt Ritchie's second goal of the season equals his Premier
League tally from
2018/19 and is one behind his 2017/18 total (all PL only).
His seven PL strikes move him level with a varied bunch of current
and ex Mags: Ciaran Clark, Carl Cort, Stephen Glass, Jonas Gutierrez
& Mark Viduka.
In all competitions Ritchie now has 24 goals for NUFC.
On-loan Danny Rose was ineligible to play against his parent club.

There were two milestones for the visitors:
Jose Mourinho's eighth Premier League visit to SJP as a manager
brought his first victory, following four defeats and three draws
while occupying the away dugout in charge of Chelsea and Manchester
United.
However he has tasted victory here previously, with his Chelsea side
twice winning League Cup ties.
Harry Kane marked his 350th competitive senior game by scoring the
200th and 201st career club goals (for Leyton Orient, Millwall,
Leicester City and Spurs. He also played for Norwich City without
finding the net). Five of that 201 have come against Newcastle, four
in the PL and another in the LC.
The 26 year-old England international now has 140 Premier League
goals to his name, leaving him thirteenth in the all-time list for
that competition. Alan Shearer is way out in front with 260, but
another 10 for Kane will put him level with Michael Owen on 150 and
one ahead of Les Ferdinand.

A second half double from Harry Kane saw Spurs record
their third successive victory at Gallowgate on Wednesday - and finally give Jose
Mourinho the first league win on Tyneside of his managerial career.
The visiting boss occupied the away dugout seven times previously
while in charge of Chelsea and Manchester United without winning
once, but his current side's potency in front of goal finally
brought three points.
For opposite number Steve Bruce though there was a third defeat
in eight days and yet more injury woes, losing Fabian Schar
to a shoulder problem.
The visitors took a 27th minute lead against the run of play when
Schar was dispossessed outside his own area by Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min firing
past Martin Dubravka at his near post.
Although Miguel Almiron had two early shots, the home side's best chance of equalising before the break came when Dwight
Gayle's 42nd minute header from Jonjo Shelvey's right wing centre struck a post
with Lloris helpless.
The black and whites were level eleven minutes after the restart
though; newly-arrived replacement Valentino Lazaro wandering into
the Spurs box and Matt Ritchie smashing the loose ball home into the
Gallowgate net.
Parity proved to be fleeting however and by the hour Kane had lost
his alleged marker Emile Krafth to head in a deep right wing centre
from substitute Stephen Bergwijn.
Unbeaten in their previous six home league games, Newcastle went in
search of an equaliser but Joelinton's arrival brought no
inspiration and only a pile-driver from Lazaro into the side netting
raised any hopes.
The statistics showed that the home side had a seasonal high 22 goal
attempts, but the majority of them presented no threat to the Spurs
net.
Spurs then opened up a flattering two goal advantage in the 90th
minute when a speedy counter-attack ended with Dubravka parrying
Erik Lamela's shot into the path of Kane to head in for 3-1.
Then came the injury to Schar, who was able to walk off the field following
treatment for a shoulder problem but later hospitalised - having taken a blow to
the head during an earlier aerial challenge with Kane.
It's little consolation that we've played worse this season and won
games and even less of a surprise to see full backs exposed when
deployed as centre halves.
That latter issue has led to us conceding 12 goals in four
games, but it's misleading just to blame the back line - this defeat
hardly helped by the clownish contributions of Nabil Bentaleb and
DeAndre Yedlin in a five man midfield.
Although two midfielders from the U23 side were on the bench
tonight, none of our reserve central defenders were deemed suitable
for inclusion as cover - an issue that cannot be laid at Bruce's
door but underlines a greater, longer term malaise.
Thankfully there's nothing tangible to play for in our final two
games;, fanciful froth about top ten finishes going the same way as
wistful waffle about Wembley did late last month.
The only outcome of real interest round these parts is the takeover;
onfield matters a sideshow until that is finally concluded one way or the
other.
However the continuing uncertainty over ownership now threatens to
overshadow next season, leaving the club, fans, players - and
manager - in complete limbo.
