Newcastle's reserve side lost a behind-closed-doors friendly on Monday afternoon at the Auchenhowie Training Centre of their Scottish hosts.

United went ahead in the 11th minute when Owen Bailey and Elias Sorensen combined for striker Luke Charman to net his first goal of pre-season. 

Rangers hit back seven minutes later through Serge Atakayi and the DR Congo-born winger then crossed for Zak Rudden to head a 73rd minute winner.
