A day after Peter Beardsley's U21 side netted eight
times in a training ground match against Carlisle United, a more youthful line-up repeated that goal glut a few miles away against local opposition.

United faced
their Northern League Second Division hosts to mark completion of improvements at Grounsell Park, including new floodlights and a small seated area. It's also exactly a century since the Stan were elected as members of the Northumberland FA.

Clad in their grey change kit, Newcastle grabbed a tenth minute lead when Macaulay Gillesphey was fouled in the box by Michael Creswick, Tom Heardman converting the resultant spot kick.
Greg Olley then doubled the lead four minutes later with a solo effort and it was 3-0 after 21 minutes, when left back Liam Gibson burst into the Stan box before crossing for Callum Roberts to sidefoot in.

Roberts got his second and United's fourth after 32 minutes, shooting low past 'keeper, Shaun Backhouse, and a minute later Gibson did the same.
The home side reduced the arrears in the 40th minute when Dean Deagle thumped home a fine free-kick.

Beardsley made four changes at the break, with defender Kevin Mbabu completing 45 minutes on his comeback after sustaining an injury while on close season international duty with Switzerland.

Stan also made a number of alterations and emerged for the second half having swapped their black and white shirts for orange ones of a similar hue to that worn by Newcastle's goalkeepers!

One of United's half-time subs, Sean Longstaff, slipped it home to make it 6-1 in the 65th minute, having earlier lifted a previous effort over the bar from a similar spot.
Another replacement, Kyle Cameron, then stylishly volleyed home United's seventh after 83 minutes, meeting Adam Laidler's cross from the left and converting via the underside of the crossbar.

Jonathyn Quinn then wrapped up the scoring with five minutes remaining, when a diagonal ball into the area following a corner allowed him to pick his spot.
The Magpies forward was able to play in the game under the terms of his current loan at Blyth Spartans, who didn't have a midweek fixture.
