Without a solitary win in their last nine
league and cup games on the road, United's reserve side completed their away
fixture programme at Valley Parade on Tuesday night in disappointing fashion.
Alan Thompson's side missed the chance to gain an early advantage when striker
Wesley Ngo Baheng shot against home ''keeper Jon McLaughlin in the opening
minute.
The Bantams made no mistake though when they fashioned a decent chance on five
minutes, with winger Leon Osborne outpaced the visiting defence before firing
past Ole Soderberg to put the home side one up.
And despite Frank Wiafe Danquah and Shane Ferguson both coming close to an
equaliser, Newcastle still trailed at the break. They then fell further behind
nine minutes after the restart, as Osborne beat newly-arrived United substitute
Darren Lough and shot home via a post.
Newcastle did force their way back into the game and substitute Michael
McCrudden came close before Nile Ranger hit the target but saw his effort saved.
And having scored the only goal when the sides met at SJP earlier in the season,
Baheng squandered his side's best chance of reducing the arrears when he shot
beyond McLaughlin, but saw his effort hit the post.
