A jubilant Tommy Craig said:

"Right through the team the lads put in a very good performance. It's difficult to single anyone out.

"They were on top for 90 minutes and having dipped in the final half hour last week proved they could maintain their performance to the final whistle.

"Martin Brittain scored a superb free-kick. He's a very good crosser of the ball, sometimes his crosses are too good, and the last goal summed up the performance.

"McClen ran 60-yards on the overlap and then picked up Bates.

"The performance was on a par with that at Everton, which had been our best of the season."

Another excellent win for our Premier Reserve side with an energetic performance and deserved victory against a young Blackburn side.

United got off to a fine start when Martin Brittain fired in a 30 yard free kick after just five minutes. Andy Ferrell then doubled our lead from the spot in the 38th minute after Lewis Guy had been shoved in the area.

Five minutes into the second half it was 3-0 as Guy beat the keeper from close range after Peter Ramage had intercepted a loose ball to initiate the counter attack.

Guy Bates then rounded off the night with a deserved reward for his efforts, scoring his first league goal at this level with a tap-in following a low Jamie McClen cross to make it 4-0.

The returning Steve Harper only had one save to make all night.

Credit to everyone concerned for a fine display, in front of a watching John Carver and Sir Bobby.

The Premier reserve side have now won three out of four home reserve games this season, as many as they managed in the whole of the previous campaign.

The reserves are currently in second place in the league behind Aston Villa, the only side to win at Kingston Park this season.
