Ahead
of their trip to Kuala Lumpur, a number of those travelling off to the Asia Cup
took part in a full-scale practice match on Friday afternoon against Division
Three new boys Doncaster Rovers.
With quick-growing conifers obstructing the
view for onlookers on the wrong side of the fence we don't have a great deal of
info, other than that United took the lead on 20 minutes through Gary Speed
Rovers made it 1-1 ten minutes later and then five minutes before half time,
Kieron Dyer regained the advantage from close range, having earlier shaved the
Rovers crossbar.
Both of our goals were laid on by Craig Bellamy, who looked to be in good form.
Cort came closest to extending Newcastle's lead with a close range header, with
Robert also not far away with a rare headed effort in the final seconds.
Making his Rovers debut as a second half sub
was the much travelled striker Leo Fortune-West, latterly at Cardiff City.
