Captaining Alnwick was ex-Magpie Yannick Aziakanou.
Alfie Harrison marked his 25th U21 appearance in all competitions with
his first Toon goal at that level.
The
U21s began their Northumberland Senior Cup defence with a resounding win over
Alnwick Town in the Second Round at Whitley Park on Wednesday night.
International call-ups saw a less experienced Magpies side fielded, with debuts
at this level for 18 year-old Scott Bailey and Mo Sedibeh, shortly after
his 19th birthday.
The home side took the lead in the 20th minute when a cross from the right was
finished by Sedibeh with a low shot from inside the six yard box.
The Northern League Second Division side levelled on 37 minutes to the delight
of their noisy travelling support, a loose ball in the United box unwittingly
diverted into his own net by defender Charlie McArthur.
Sedibeh's
second then
restored
the Magpies' lead in the 57th minute,
with a good run and finish.
2-1 became 3-1 three minutes later when substitute Alfie Harrison picked his
spot and a fourth Newcastle goal arrived on 69 minutes - Ellis Stanton's shot
was spilled by Matthew Alexander and Josh Donaldson on hand to bury the rebound
into the roof of the net.
Substitute Johnny Emerson grabbed United's fifth during the third minute of time
added on, rounding the 'keeper to complete the scoring.
