It's three wins in nine days now for Newcastle
U21s and incoming coach Diarmuid O'Carroll; their latest success coming in PL2
at Bodymoor Heath on Saturday.
The Magpies were victorious on their last visit to Villa's training ground in
2022 but lost both subsequent games on Tyneside - the revised league format
meaning that teams no longer face each other home and away.
Ben Parkinson gave United a fifth minute lead but a Villa side including
fit-again senior players Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara levelled through Ben
Broggio on 19 minutes.
Travis Patterson put the hosts ahead three minutes into the second half but
Cathal Heffernan equalised for the young Magpies from Dylan Charlton's 65th
minute corner.
Top scorer Parkinson then got the winner from the penalty spot with 20 minutes
remaining, after he was impeded in the area by goalkeeper Sam Proctor.
That's his fifth U21 goal in all competitions this season - putting the forward
well on the way to matching last season's haul of seven.
