Two late goals denied Newcastle
U21s their first win in the Premier League Cup of the season on Saturday, Ben Dawson's side leading 2-0 on 84 minutes but held by their Professional Development League opponents.

Emil Krafth played the second game of his comeback following injury at Whitley Park, while Lucas De Bolle was available following suspension. Absent however was winger Amadou Diallo, added to the senior squad as cover for Sunday's visit to West Ham.

The tie was scoreless at half time, United coming close to taking a 24th minute lead when Ben Parkinson was unable to get his shot on target after Krafth centred.

Visiting goalkeeper Tom Donaghy tipped over a Dylan Stephenson effort from Newcastle's next attack and also denied Parkinson on 34 minutes - pushing his strike on to the crossbar after good work by De Bolle.

The breakthrough came four minutes after the restart, Kyle Crossley on target for the second time in a week, firing home after Josh Scott's cross into the Fleetwood area was only half-cleared.

Donaghy was kept busy keeping out further shots from Parkinson and De Bolle but could do nothing to prevent Parkinson from making it 2-0 on 64 minutes, latching on to Remi Savage's through ball and driving home
from the left side of the box.

Town got on the scoresheet with five minutes of normal time remaining, Theo Williams well placed to exploit the opportunity
from point-blank range
when Jude Smith failed to hold on to a goalbound header following a corner kick.

The visitors struck again in the third minute of added time to make it 2-2 and salvage a point, Connor Teale on target after a
nother
corner from the Fleetwood left wasn't properly dealt with.

The Magpies began their Premier League Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town last month, while Fleetwood lost 1-3 at home to Nottingham Forest.
