Eddie Howe said:

"A really good performance: we knew Burnley would be on it, it was a big game for them.

"It’s an intimidating place to come but when we got control of the game and started to settle, I thought we showed our quality and scored four great goals.

"Tactically we tweaked things around and I was really pleased to see we still gelled together.  A lot of pace, a lot of quality, but you need it to gel for the performance to be as strong as you want it to be.

"Scoring goals is the most difficult thing to do in football, so if we can be regular goalscorers then we've got a chance of winning games. We know we have to improve defensively, but I thought we were pretty solid today.

"We're determined to change our away form and be more consistent, the away one against Crystal Palace was poor. Today was a much better performance, a much better feel around the group.

"We know we’ve got goals, we have to defend better, but it was big step forward today.”

On Alexander Isak: 

"I say it very week - an outstanding talent, technically gifted, pace, took his goal well today.

He’ll be disappointed with his penalty but that’s just one of those things - another really good display, I thought him and Callum Wilson looked really well again today, especially in the transitions.

"The penalty miss can happen. He's been really good from the spot this year, but I'm happy he got his goal just after, that'll give him a big lift." 

On Callum Wilson:

"Write Callum (Wilson) off at your peril, for sure. He comes back time and time again and is a very motivated player he wants to do his best in every moment. I have managed him for a long time and mentality wise I would not swap him.

"When he has a focus and a goal he will go for it. Of course, I want him at the club next season or course. I will do everything I can to make that happen. Gareth (Southgate) will make his own assessment on what he has seen but he has done himself no harm."

On Joelinton and Miggy Almiron's return:

"It's massive for us and that's something that has really hurt us during the season. To have that quality ready, chomping at the bit to play.

"I've got to look after those two players as well, I've got to make the right decisions and introduce them at the right times to get their load right.

"The quality they have is undoubted and the impact on the team is undoubted. I think the feeling in pre-game was in part because they were there and the group got a lot stronger.

"It always depends on the games but my plan was to maybe give them 15, 20 minutes today for the two outfield players. It was the right step up for them and we'll see how they train this week."

On European qualification hopes: 

"We’re determined to finish as high as possible. With 10 games to go we tried to reset our targets and since the international break you’ve seen a general improvement in our performances.

"We’ve got to keep that going for the last three games of the season. But I think you could sense there was a real desire today. 

"I sensed that in training during the week and that’s because we have a really good group full of leaders and winners. They’d love to get back to Europe, I’m sure.

"We're in there fighting for those places, it gives us a much better position than before the game. Now we go into a tough three-game week, starting with Brighton."

Vincent Kompany:

"Look, we came up against a better side today but there was no lack of effort from our side. We fought hard and the team gave everything, we just couldn't match Newcastle in most areas of the pitch.

"We made a very good start to the game and it's moments like that (from the start) that you have to seize and take advantage of. But credit to my team, they never gave up.

"Good players find solutions and at the start of the game we played well and they (Newcastle) didn't seem to have the solutions, but they figured out the moments and ways to expose us and then they have three goals at the break.

"I just want to highlight, we never let the game die, ok the score was done but we kept going until the end and kept fighting but fell short to the better team.

"It is what it is, we just have to pick ourselves up and go again next week at Spurs. A result there, and other results going our way, and the picture changes once again.

"In the end I'm not beaten by it or defeated by it. They're a good side with a phenomenal attacking set of players. Quality midfielders who are aggressive on the ball and just overall stronger than us today.

"Like I have said, there was no lack of effort from the team but we need to be ready now on Monday to go again for the last two games and give it our all."

"The fact of the matter is we play the last game against (Nottingham) Forest. We can't control what they do, we can't control what Luton (Town) does. We have one game to play in between and that one game we need something special."
